The Theatre 10 and Ward 8C scheme enabled the relocation of the Gynae-Oncology Service from their existing facility to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. The project included the fit-out of a shell space for the Theatre and associated scrub, prep and anaesthetic rooms and the reconfiguration of Ward 8C to accommodate the Gynae-Oncology inpatient and outpatient facilities.
An 3.2sqm shaped ultra clean ventilation canopy was installed in the theatre allowing an entire operating team and all their instrument tables to be accommodated beneath the canopy zone. The finishes scheme in both the theatre and Ward 8C were selected to corresponded with the existing adjacent areas of the London Hospital to create a seamless transition and continue the clean modern appearance.
The neighbouring theatres and ward areas remained fully operational throughout the construction programme.
