A comprehensive set of design standards was developed, which were used to strengthen the client’s brand and bring a cohesive identity across their estate. A key consideration was that it was not possible to start every fit out from scratch so the approach needed to be able to provide significant impact even when being adopted in degrees. For that reason the strategy looked at how a consistent image could be developed even for schemes where a major refurbishment is not envisaged. The base finishes palette was neutral in colour with subtle variations between the shade and tone of different surfaces. The artwork was a mixture of photographs of key landmarks in the surrounding area and sculptural pieces inspired by the ‘layers’ theme. Mirrors and vertical decorative layers were used to add visual depth and interest and to highlight key areas such as the reception desk and the beverage bay.
