Princess Grace Hospital Main Entrance, London W1

It is very satisfying to be involved in projects that are able to transform tired, gloomy spaces into spacious and inviting places.

The entrance of this hospital was relocated to a more prominent position away from the focus of deliveries and out of a low ceiling environment to benefit patients and visitors by being more easily found and accessed; extending a warm welcome to all. The total volume of the available space was captured, removing unattractive suspended tile ceilings and integrating lighting more subtly.

The scheme comprised a new external ramp and glass porch, signage, new reception and waiting spaces along with back-of-house clerical offices and a dispensing pharmacy. A calm and sophisticated palate of colours adds to the overall sense of the scheme’s reassuring poise.
